D-

Ok so I was being a bit generous in giving myself a rating of a D- instead of a big fat F for totally slacking on the blog front! I'm BUSY people!! :-) I spend lots and lots of time updating our business and attorney social media sites instead of my own, therefore, when I go home, I avoid my computer like the plague.

I can't believe it's been 10 days, T-E-N DAYS! Since my last post. I'm so sorry :-( I know you've been crying buckets and buckets of tears. Will you ever forgive me? How can I make it up to you?

I hope you took my advice from my last post and downloaded 'Get Around This' by SafetySuit. They are getting TONS of great buzz about the newest single and I'm excited it's hit the airwaves. I'm trying not to be too jealous, but SS is currently on the VH1 music cruise jammin' with some great musicians. I REALLY need a tan, or even a sunburn, I would LOVE a sunburn right now. Sunburn = tan = happy Kelsey.

Chad and I were running yesterday after work and I was REALLY hoping to get some sun in the 40 minutes we were outside. Apparently that's not long enough for a sunburn, but when I squint my eyes at just the right angle I can ALMOST make out a tan line from my running tank. I even might have maybe held out my arms while running while uttering the words, 'Dear Jesus, please just give me a sunburn, thank you.'

Last Friday we went to our family circle group and celebrated Easter by having a seder meal. It was really cool (even though I didn't partake in any food - I was not feeling well AT ALL). I was however in charge of dessert and I made these little lovelies:

Chocolate cupcakes with homemade frosting that almost turns out to be kind of like the cream filling stuff (it's sooooo yummy) and then dipped in chocolate.

I meant to take pics of the whole process, but like I said, I wasn't feeling so good and the best I could do was a pic of the finished product sitting on my lap while we were driving to the Spencers :-)

For Easter lunch we met my family and Chad's parents at Macaroni Grill.

I snapped this pic of Everleigh not long after they arrived. She was NOT HAPPY! It was definitely past her normal napping time and she was finally calmed down after being given her milk. I'm not really sure why she thinks laying all the way back in her high chair was comfortable, but she stopped crying so I wasn't going to suggest to her otherwise :-)

E was wearing a lot of tulle, but it was pretty cute!

Grandma helps make everything better:

look, it's a 'small bow'! :-) She is such a cutie!!

Here's a pic that Afton's friend took of E in her Easter dress:

And she is actually one kid who LOVES the Easter Bunny!!

Might as well show you this one too...one of my FAVES!!

No she doesn't actually take baths with a bow in her hair, it just hadn't been taken off yet :-) How SWEET is that little face???!!

Hope you still love me even when I'm a slacker :-)

Fun Fact of the Day

There is a lot of TRANSITION happening in my life lately and I haven't had much time to devote to my beloved blog :-)

So as to not leave you feeling as though I've neglected you, my dear readers, completely, I am posting a fun fact for you to enjoy today.

The face of Uncle Sam, the fictional personification of the United States, was modeled after a door-to-door salesman from Canada.

Love ya! Happy Thursday!

My Friday's

There is NO OTHER WAY to start a Friday work day than this:

I'm sorry, I just can't seem to take a real normal picture.

I.LOVE.JAMBAJUICE!!!!!!!!!!!!! And yes, I will shout it from the heavens. I don't care who knows it. I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love! (Name that movie)

Um...does anyone else notice how AWESOME my nails are right now? I know, I'm in shock too. Especially since those are the real deal kids ;-)

Love ya bunches and have an INCREDIBLE Friday and rest of the weekend!

KZig

A New Development in the KZig Department

I haven't done a whole lot of posting this week (as I'm sure some of you noticed) because it has been a bit crazy around here. And by around here I'm mostly referring to my work/job life.

On Tuesday afternoon I had a meeting with two of the partners at the law firm where I work. I know...sounds serious doesn't it? Well, I was greatly relieved to learn I wasn't getting a 'pointy finger talk' (that's what we call a 'you'd-better-listen-here-and-straighten-up' talk from my Grandma Judith). Hi Grandma :-)

Apparently I'm doing an amazing job as the receptionist, but I'm not being used to my full potential. See, right here is where I can respond with a really great smart aleck comment, but I'll show restraint ;-) It was actually really nice to be complimented on work performance and to know that someone has taken notice and the time to say hey we think you're doing a great job!

LISTEN UP PEOPLE: Taking a few seconds or even a few minutes to tell someone around you that they're doing a great job really goes a long way. So if you haven't done that in a while just try it out and see if a bad attitude or work performance shifts a little in your favor. Sometimes it's easy to forget that people still have a need to feel accepted even if you've worked our lived around them for years. People want to feel worthy and they want to feel noticed.

Um...not sure where all of that came from so I'm gonna go ahead and step down from my little soapbox now :-)

Anyway, you're now currently reading the ramblings of the new Client Relations and Marketing Director of RRBK Law Firm :-)

It will be SO GREAT to not have to mumble 'receptionist' when someone asks me what I do.

DISCLAIMER: There's nothing wrong with being a receptionist. I should know. I've been one for a LONG time. I have nothing against other receptionists and any resemblance of my life to yours is simply coincidental. No receptionists were harmed during the writing of this blog. :-)

Yes, I have a college degree.
No it's not being used and no it probably won't be and yes if I could go back and do it all again I would potentially reconsider changing my major.
Thank you.

I wish I could say that it came with a big fat pay raise...

-SILENCE-

Hello?

Anybody there?

:-)

BUT I will say that I am thankful for the opportunity and the challenge and the ability to incorporate some of my creativity and just for a job in general and I do hope that a bigger pay raise is in my near future. Mama needs a new professional wardrobe. :-)

Sincerely,

Kelsey Zig, CRMD of RRBK

P.S.
I'm going to have my own business cards! I'm sooooooooooo official now ;-)

Love ya!

Weekend Highs & Lows, but Mostly Highs

I really need to remember to take more pictures! I mean the weather was GORGEOUS this past weekend and I didn't take one stinking picture. Not one. I couldn't even remember to take a picture on our Anniversary...ugh. Pray for me. It's a disease and I need help.

Highlights of the weekend include but are not limited to:
1. Dinner at a restaurant we've been wanting to try: Stone Mill BBQ with friends Mike & Lynelle and their two adorable and funny little girls. I know, it's sad that I have no picture to show you how adorable they really are. You'll just have to take my word for it.
2. Dessert at Cherry Berry - 3 words...orange push pop - YUM!
3. Sleeping in on Saturday - hallelujah
4. Trying a new hole in the wall burger joint for lunch: Freddies (we like to try new places to eat, but mostly we just like to eat)
5. Walking around Utica square and soaking up the lovely sun time
6. FINALLY finding a decent egg plate for deviled eggs thanks to Easter coming up in a few weeks. Buy them now while you can people, those things are hard to find in the 'off season'! We got ours at Kohls and it's plain white and a rectangle instead of a circle which pleases us to no end because it will fit in our fridge better ;-) Yes, we had high expectations for our deviled egg platter.
7. Opting to make guacamole and enchilada dip instead of real food for dinner
8. Watching Megamind - we love a good cartoon
9. Incredible worship time at the OBF including the keyboard stand snapping and the keyboard falling to the stage floor...it.was.awesome!
10. Watching a crazy number of people get baptized after having concluded the Breaking Free Class and Freedom Weekend. There was even a lady who took the Breaking Free class via correspondence from the Virgin Islands and came all the way to Tulsa to our church to participate in the Freedom Weekend...INCREDIBLE! I'm always amazed and inspired by people who are willing to do whatever it takes to get more freedom in their lives and more Jesus...YES!

Lowlights:
1. Gale force winds on Sunday that brought in today's cold weather - BOO
and
2. Time going by WAY too fast for my liking

What were your weekend highlights/lowlights?

Already looking forward to another great weekend :-)
