The Oscars

Well the Oscar's were a bit anti-climatic this year in my opinion. I didn't catch all of it, which is fine with me, but I did get to see my favorite part...the dresses, the shoes, the jewelry and accessories and the hair ;-) I'm a girl, what did you expect?!

I was pleased that Colin Firth won the oscar for best actor. He did an incredible job of mastering that uncomfortable and awkward (at times) stutter in The King's Speech. Wasn't it almost painful to watch at times? I wanted to say the words for him. I can't imagine what it must have been like to grow up with something like that; and in the public eye no less.

I haven't seen The Fighter yet and so cannot comment on the best supporting actor/actress winners, and I have not and probably will not watch Black Swan (sounded too dark for me) so there you go!

Chad boy was rooting for The Social Network for every category it was in, but also enjoyed the King's Speech so wasn't too disappointed I guess. Not that boys really get disappointed or really care about those types of things anyway!

We were both pleased that The Social Network and Deception both took home some musical/sound editing awards. We think the music/sound in both was great and thankfully the Academy obliged ;-)

On to the best part...the DRESSES!

Here are my pics/picks for faves:

Don't you just LOVE Helen Miren? I think she always looks classy. Now this isn't my fave pick of the evening, but I had to give her props for looking so great in her 60's. She wore Vivienne Westwood Couture.

I'm in LOVE with this color of purple! Big shocker huh since the color of 'ink' I just to type in is pretty much the exact same shade ;-) Props to Natalie Portman for making pregnancy look beautiful with the help of Rodarte.

I'm not one for a full sequined/crystalled dress, but I thought this gown fit her perfectly and the color is gorgeous against her skin-tone. I'm also not a fan of the necklace, but that amazingly perfect hair wave she's got going just about makes up for it :-) She is wearing L'Wren Scott (FYI: Nicole Kidman should have stuck with L'Wren Scott this year instead of choosing the gown she did)

I love Sandra Bullock. I know some people aren't fans, but I am and you can't change my mind! I thought she looked stunning in this amazing red Vera Wang gown! The hair could have used a little extra help, but she's still gorgeous to me :-)

Some love it and some hate it and I'm intrigued by it! The first time I saw Cate Blanchett in this gown I was like what is that, that's different. And then the more and more I saw it I was more and more intrigued and I've decided that I like LOVE this Givency Couture gown she's chosen. It's fun and quirky and she owned it.

This Elie Saab Haute Couture lavendar chiffon and lace gown was one of my top 2 favorites! I wish I had a more close-up picture to show you the detailing, so if you missed it, just trust me, it was GORGEOUS! Mila Kunis...you were stunning!

And finally...

My FAVORITE gown of the evening...

Goes to...

HALLE BERRY!! I am in LOVE with this Marchesa corset gown! The organza...the silk tulle ruffles...the crystal encrusted bodice...it all works perfectly together to create this exquisite masterpiece! Plus you can see those diamond drop earrings from here! You know I probably wouldn't even like it that much if someone else had worn it. I think this gown was made for Halle. Now if I only looked like her in that gown ;-)

Cique Du Soleil Allegria = AMAZING!

Seriously, if you get the chance to see this show, DO IT! It was so fun! We got an incredible deal on tickets thanks to friends of friends and were actually seated in the 2nd (Yes, SECOND) row on the floor!

Confetti was thrown on us a couple of times (which is fun to me, but maybe not everyone) and guess what...

We were a part of the show!

Yes. It's true. Don't be jealous.

Chad was hoping he would get the opportunity, and he wasn't disappointed. I was just hoping I WOULDN'T get picked :-)

At the beginning of the show the ringmaster walked over to where we were sitting and handed me his little scepter and pulled Chad out of his seat and started dancing with him. It's true, I have the pictures to prove it (you'll see later) and then they whisked him away and I never saw him again.

Just kidding.

They (the weird/scary/freaky looking clowns - you'll see those later too) did take Chad back somewhere and then the ringmaster came and sat next to me as I reluctantly relinquished my role as the scepter holder. And then he left and Chad came back and we lived happily ever after. The end :-)

THE SHOW MUST GO ON PEOPLE!

Anyway, it was super entertaining and people were flying around and twisting and twirling and leaping and dancing and singing and shouting and playing and flipping and stretching and swinging all over the place. I.loved.it. I kind of, sort of, maybe, perhaps, just a little bit wished I were in the Cirque, but you have to be limber...very limber...very, very limber...very, very, very (you get the idea), and that I am not. I just wanted one day, an afternoon even, to jump around on their crazy trampolines and swing on the bars and stuff. They weren't selling tickets for that though.

Unfortunately flash photography and video taping were prohibited, but I got a couple of shots with my iphone and Dave took a couple with his (he's got the newest one with a built in flash and that thing really comes in handy). You can definitely tell the difference between mine and his photos :-)

before the show (my camera)

front of part of the stage (my camera)

There's one of the freaky clowns (mine again)

See...they're creepy! (and again)
P.S. Ladies PLEASE wear a strapless or racerback bra when necessary! We don't need or want to see yo' stuff hanging out all over the place :-)

Ole' Chad getting his dance on (still mine - sorry for the blur, they must have been really moving)

We are cheeseballers (Dave's camera - so much brighter!)

Intermission = photo op in front of the stage. (Dave's again)

So glad I got to mark this one off my list!

P.S.

It's FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!! I like to start my Friday off by taking a little detour on the way to work at Jamba Juice. One word...YUM.

Do you do anything special to start off your weekend?

Lot's o' love,
KZig

I Forgot

So in my rush to spew out a blog yesterday in 5 minutes I left out a few little things I wanted to share which includes a couple of shout-outs to some of my homies!

First of all did anyone guess what show 'don't fret my pet' is from? It wasn't a hard one so I'm sure right away you had memories of coke bottle glasses and suspenders, white socks and high waters...it was Steve Urkle from Family Matters! He was always saying that to his love, Laura.

I know you're so glad I took the time to clear that up.

My first shout-out goes to my girl Abi who not only sent me a special Valentine card in the mail, but sent me a special HOMEMADE Valentine! You just never know what a snow day at home will bring out of a person ;-)

Second shout-out is for my sister-in-law, Chelsea, who also sent me a V-Day card (man I'm really loved), but made it extra special by including a gift. The gift of self. That's right, she sent me a picture of her face, but not just any picture, it was a school day picture and of course it immediately went on the fridge for all the world to see. I don't think I ever took a school picture that looked that good! I'm thinking about drawing on a mustache to make myself feel better about it.

Third shout-out goes to my long-time friend DAVE BURRIS!!! Can't wait to celebrate your birthday tonight! (His b-day was yesterday so if you know him and didn't tell him Happy Birthday, it's not too late)

I know you're really hoping for some pictures and I have to say these aren't the greatest, but it'll give you a little something to look at and distract you if you have ADD ;-)

I made more cupcake pops for our Women's Conference (If you were there and didn't get one, I'm SORRY!!)

I did strawberry cake this time and it was pretty delish if I do say so myself...

I also decided to go for a couple of different colors and different sprinkles for variety this go round.

P.S. Can you see our little faces in the background? That's from a show we did in Vegas last year for Etched.

Here are some of the pretty flowers we had at our V-Day dinner party. Please note that Chad arranged these. That boy sure is handy :-)

These STILL look fabulous!

Star gazer lilies are my favorite, but they can really make your house smell like a funeral parlor (that is if you've been to many funeral parlors)

LOVE this vintage green vase my Grandma J gave to me! (Green is definitely a fave color of mine)

Last shout-out goes to Abi again who found out last Friday that she will be having a precious baby BOY!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to meet that little cutie!

Ta-ta for now...

Kels

P.S.
Has anyone else had a strange invasion of roly poly's at their house? I think I've flushed at least 25 in the past couple of days...weird.

Don't Fret My Pet

Name that TV show ;-)

I know you all thought I had already fallen off the blogging wagon, but fear not, I am here! This past week/weekend has been insanely busy for me and the blogging kept getting pushed to the bottom of the list.

Forgive me? Ok good :-)

To catch you up on what's been going on the Ziegler's lives this past week here is a quick run-down:

We did bring the pallet back out for some glorious after dinner tv show/movie watching. We FINALLY put it away for good (or at least for awhile) yesterday because we were becoming too sloth-like and our couches were crying from our lack of use and love towards them. They feel much better now.

We started running again outside because it's been so GLORIOUS! Maybe a little windy, but it has felt so good to be outside running and not inside a stinky gym (yes and amen).

I got to sing for our annual Daughter's of the Lion Women's Conference this past weekend! It.was.AWESOME! So so good to have been a part of that and to hear such awesome messages from the lovely Pastor ladies of our church and if you missed it, you did miss out so plan on being there next year! Yay for change, transition, and taking your authority...the ladies rocked the house.

Chad was sad and lonely while I was away (yessssss! j/k, but doesn't it always make you feel good to know you are loved and missed?!) Inca (our 4 pound chihuahua) tried to keep him company as best as she could. Everyone needs an Inca. If you haven't met her, you are definitely missing out on some joy in your life ;-)

Finally work has been cray-cray (that's crazy for you older peeps). We had a server crash a couple of weeks ago and I'm STILL playing catch up. Ugh...I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel though so there's hope. If I could just get people to stop emailing me billing and calling me I would cry great tears of joy. Oh well...

Until next time...sending you lot's and lot's of love from T-town!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope your day is filled with lot's of love, laughter, good conversation and good food! It's good to be reminded to be thankful for the one's in your life you get to love, whether that's friends, family members, and/or a significant other. Tell those around you that you love them and do it often! Don't wait for this one day of the year to celebrate your love...celebrate love daily :-)

"A kiss is a lovely trick designed by nature to stop speech when words become superfluous"
               ~Ingrid Bergman

Happy Valentine's Day shout-out to my husband, Chad! So incredibly thankful that I get to share and live this life together with you. You make me feel so loved and so special every day and I feel truly blessed. I love you.

Love,
Kels

It's A Party!

We did it! We survived the great dinner party of 2011 and I have to say I think it was a great success. (Hopefully I'm not the only one that thinks that!)

We learned a few things about dinner parties:
1. They are a lot of work!
2. We desperately need a double oven or a menu with only 1-2 hot items ;-)
3. When friends contribute it's a wonderful thing (thankfully we have amazing friends)
4. Make sure your gas stovetops have been turned off before you go to bed (yeah...no bueno)

We really had a lot of fun getting to hang out with friends and laugh and eat good food. And if this menu doesn't make your mouth water then there's something wrong with you.

Menu:
Puffed pastry rounds (I made hearts instead of rounds in honor of V-Day) with crab and chives
Smoked gouda & smoked gruyere cheeses
Spinach salad with mandarins and sugared almonds (thanks Jo!)
Cold Strawberry soup
Wild Mushroom Risotto (my girl Abi brought this and it was AMAZING!)
Almond Green Beans with lemon butter sauce (another thank you to Abi)
Crash Hot Potatoes
Spiced Game Hens
Milk Chocolate Fondue with lot's of yummy things for dipping ie: bananas & brownie bites (thank you Lynelle), cheesecake bites, strawberry's, marshmellow's graham crackers & rice crispy treats

I'm pretty sure nobody left hungry!

Sorry there aren't any pictures, it unfortunately completely slipped my mind with everything going on.

Next get together I'm thinking a little more simple like pj's, movies, and make your own nachos ;-)

I think I'll go eat breakfast now :-)

The Answer is YES!

I know you've all been awaiting with bated breath, and here it is, the answer is YES!!!!!

Yes we have enjoyed our movie pallet every single night this week, which takes tv/movie watching to a whole new level of comfort, but unfortunately we have to stow it away for company this weekend. I'm having a little dinner party Saturday (!!), but you'd better believe it will be out again in all its glory by Sunday afternoon - just in time for naps...

And yes I am LOVING my new MAC Wonder Woman make-up!! My husband took me (no I still cannot drive my car out of the neighborhood...I wonder if I'll remember how to drive by the time it all melts away?) to pick up my lovelies, and of course as soon as we got in the truck I opened them all immediately to play :-)

This morning I used the Valient eye shadow pallet and the Army of Amazons (don't they come up with the best names?) green mascara and threw on my cape as I flew out the door to save the world of law from utter demise.

Ok, ok so my cape is really just a red and black striped sweater cardigan, BUT it is long and has a hood so feels very cape-like, and by saving the world of law from utter demise I really mean sorting through the ridiculous amount of phone calls we get to save the rest of the office from phone ringing insanity.

(sigh)...a girl can dream can't she?

The Civil Wars

Ok peeps listen up - if you haven't heard of or listened to The Civil Wars YOU HAVE GOT TO CHECK THEM OUT!!!

I am in love with the 2 songs featured here: The Civil Wars (they are both on their new album)

Your ears will thank you ;-)

Cupcake Pops

Here are the cupcake pops that I mentioned in an earlier post: (I don't have all of the steps on here (there are a lot) but you can kind of see the finishing processes)

Here you can see I've already dipped the bottoms and put them on sticks.

Now dipping the tops

Finished product drying with sprinkles and m&m's

These are a couple I did at the beginning and forgot to put the sticks in while the chocolate was still wet. So these are called cupcake bites instead of pops.

Finished product...not the best picture, but you get the idea!

I got the recipe from www.bakerella.com - she has the CUTEST stuff on there!

I thought I did pretty good for my 1st time and considering I had to form the little cupcakes myself b/c my miniature flower cookie cutter wasn't as miniature as I needed!

Brrrrr Rabbit!

We woke up this morning to a bone chilling -14 degree's (yes that's a negative sign in front of that number) - now that is COLD!

Chad had to do some solo snow shoveling this morning so he could drive me to work. I definitely enjoyed another snow day at home and the fresh snow covered all of the ugliness from what the blizzard had left (dirt, slush, etc.)

The drive into work this morning was a bit stressful. Still lots of ice patches out in BA so we did some sliding of our own and passed quite a few cars in the ditch. Thankfully we finally made it in safe and sound! Chad is most definitely a good and cautious driver and always gets us where we need to go so that we always arrive in one piece ;-)

Yesterday we FINALLY finished installing the last of the speakers for surround sound. Installing the system yourself definitely saves you some money, but that whole drilling holes and pulling chord through walls and traipsing around the attic is for the birds in my opinion, but MAN DOES IT SOUND AWESOME!!

To enjoy our surround sound and snow day to the max we finally got smart and moved the coffee table out of the way to make a lovely movie watching pallet. That's right, we are 20 and 30 something and we made a pallet on the ground to watch movies.  (I don't think I'll ever get too old to enjoy that!)

Here's a little peek before I maybe added 2-4 more pillows for good measure ;-)

The photo quality isn't that great, but you get the idea. To make a good movie watching pallet I recommend using the following layers: sleeping bag, big furry blanket, quilt, multiple pillows, and then another quilt for keeping warm...I might just have to make another one tonight; couches and chairs are for sissy's. That's right, I just called you out. You know you want to make one now!

Apparently we have officially broken every snow record in the history of Tulsa in the past week so if you get to stay home where it's warm and cozy be thankful, and if you have to venture out, stay safe!

P.S.

Don't forget about all of our fine feathered friends out there looking for food...they need a little TLC too.

I.LOVE.MAC.

The following is not a paid advertisement: :-)

Yes I love my mac computer, but this time I'm talking about the make-up.

MAC is...

wait for it...

coming out with their WONDER WOMAN Collection!!!!!!!!!!!! (And all the heavens rejoiced)

I am sooooo excited!

There's fun colored mascara's (green is shown here, but they also have purple, blue & black)...

Pigmants - how amazing and bright is that color?!

Lipsticks...

Lipglosses...you can't really tell here, but they are actually SUPER size and bigger than their regular containers...

And of course you can't be Wonder Woman without gettin' your nails did (word)

And come on, how fun are all of the cases?! Make-up doesn't get much more fun than this my friends :-)

Of course there are also brushes and make-up bags and blushes and powders and eye shadow pallets and so many other colors and things (even a mirror compact) I can't even begin to show them all to you!

I.am.in.love.

You'd better believe my sweet-as-pie husband was at MAC today putting some of these AWESOME goodies on hold for me (thank you Jo & Dave for my MAC bday gift card!!). The product isn't officially available for purchase in store's until Thursday (I think), but they will let you pay now (!!) and pick up later. Unbelievable enough, most everything is already sold out online!

Perfect gifts for your girlfriend or wife for V-Day boys (hint-hint)! ;-)

I so cannot wait to try mine out!

Men, Boys, and Even Perhaps Some Women, Were Jealous All Across the Land

It's true. My birthday was yesterday...on the SUPER BOWL!!! I have to say I didn't really care which team won or lost, but it was still a good game. I might or might not have finished reading a book during some of it. It would have been a lot better had our team, the DALLAS COWBOYS, been in it, but maybe next year. Yes, I know, they had a bit of a rough year you could say, but don't hate!

I sure thought something was weird with the National Anthem (besides Christina's lack of time and the 937 trills that made me forget which song she was singing (you know it's true)), but I couldn't quite figure it out, and then I read that she really did mess up the words! Christina Aguilera said, 'I got caught up in the moment and lost my place'  (Yikes)
I was a bit disappointed in the commercials this year. I think they're slacking off. $3 million dollars for 30 seconds...you'd think they'd come up with some better ones for that kind of money. My favorite was probably the Darth Vader one. SO CUTE!! What was yours?
I can't believe this is the last year of my 20's!! That doesn't seem right at all, but my birth certificate says so, so it must be true (sigh). I hear it only gets better from here so all I can say is bring it on!
My mom made me a homemade chocolate cake, and I'm telling you it is the BEST chocolate cake you will ever eat (if you ever get to try it). I'm not sure what she puts in there, but wow. Thanks mom! Good thing I own stretchy pants to wear this week!
Thank you to all of my amazing family and friends that made me feel so loved and special with their sweet words of Happy Birthday and blessings to me! I'm definitely feeling the love ;-) I think 29 is going to be a FANTASTIC year and I can't wait to share it with you!

Princess Everleigh (My Niece) Turns 1!

This post is a bit late in coming, but when is it NOT a good time to post cute little baby pictures I ask you?

Miss Everleigh was born January 27, 2010 and we were able to celebrate on the most GORGEOUS and SUNNY Saturday the 29th. It was almost 80 degrees...in January! We should've known mother nature would have revenge with a blizzard the following week.

Brace yourselves. The following pictures may not be suitable for grandparents, parents, moms-to-be, aunts, uncles, or any aged female for that matter. The cuteness is very graphic. You have been forewarned.

The theme as you can see was black and pink (of course). The banner reads, 'Happy Birthday Everleigh'

A cake fit for a princess.

Truffles (of course) were my contribution.

Afton made some ridiculously cute dipped marshmellows.

Are you ready??

You're not are you?

Prepare for the adorable profile:

.

.

.

It was quite the outfit...here you can't even see her pants or shoes.

Mom and daughter pic.

Cake time! She wasn't sure if she was really allowed to eat the sugary goodness set before her...

...but it didn't take long to get the hang of it and plunge right in! Double fisting it ;-)

Making a thorough mess and sporting an icing beard/mustache combo, and yes, even her highchair was decorated to the max!

One more pic before clean up...

WAIT me too!! Look at that little cutie (E, not me silly)

Ok last one I promise ;-)

This is REALLY the last one...E returning the favor and helping me celebrate my bday ;-)

Now everyone take a deep breath and relax...you survived the CUTENESS of little Miss Everleigh!
